Honey Vanilla Hawaiian Bread Protein Pudding
Somehow I had the urge for bread pudding. But had a few problems preventing me from putting down a nice slice of bread pudding: (1) I just started a fat cutting diet and (2) I had never made bread pudding before. Fortunately, one of my friends handed me a recipe, which I checked out, and then I tossed it aside and and tried my own thing. The result was an awesome honey vanilla bread pudding with a rum honey cream sauce that I could easily consume even on my diet.
A lot of bread pudding recipes call for day old bread, French bread or Cuban bread. Well, I turned that idea on it's nose and decided to try a bread pudding with fresh Hawaiian rolls. The thought was "Hey, I love Hawaiian rolls. They taste soooo good! I bet they would be great in a bread pudding!" And guess what? They are!
My bread pudding also does something else unheard of in bread pudding recipes: no additional sugar. That's right! Even the sauce has no sugar added. Sugar isn't even an ingredient in this recipe. Now, I have nothing against sugar. But why add it if you don't need it? And this recipe absolutely does not need any sugar added. And uh, hey, I'm on a diet, remember?
And finally, there is some protein added. I suppose I couldn't very well call this a protein pudding without the protein. And I certainly wouldn't want this recipe to disappoint. Have no fear. This baby is packed with protein, deliciousness and awesomeness. And like most of my recipes, it's crazy simple to make.
I bet you're probably reading this and saying to yourself, "Enough already! What's the recipe?" OK, OK, the recipe is just below.

How To Kick It Up To The Next Level
Add Walnuts
Adding in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts would certainly kick this recipe up a notch. And I actually did consider this. However, since I am going to be on a fat cutting diet for the next couple of weeks, I can't really spare the additional fat in my diet. So, walnuts had to go. But as soon as I am done cutting fat, the walnuts are going into a pan of this stuff.
Add Dried Cranberries
You might have noticed that a lot of bread pudding recipes add raisins. Well, in my opinion, dried cranberries are like a better, tastier version of raisins. Try adding in 1/2cup of dried cranberries to this recipe and you will see what I mean. And if you really want something that will blow your mind, try soaking the dried cranberries in rum for an hour before adding them into the recipe. That's at least a couple of levels higher!
